Wasim Afnan (21), a final year student of Sylhet Agricultural University died after a bus helper had pushed him out of a running bus on Saturday (23 March) evening. The deceased was the son of Abu Zaher Mahbub and Dr. Mina Parvin.

According to Kamrul Islam, a sub-inspector of Sherpur Highway Police Station, around 6:00 pm, he was returning to the university by a bus of Udar Paribahan with some of his friends. At a time they started arguing with the bus driver and helper about the unjust bus fare when they were on the Sylhet Mymensingh highway near Maulvibazar. Wasim was then pushed by the helper from the running bus and so, he fell down the road. At the same spot, a running bus went over him leaving him severely injured.

Immediately, he was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital by the locals and his friends. But the doctors declared him dead. S. I. Kamrum Islam informed that they seized the bus from Begamgong, Osmani Naragar. But the driver and the helper managed to flee and so, they couldn’t arrest them.
