The European champion Portugal seized their first victory in this year’s FIFA World Cup 2018 in their second group stage match against the African side Morocco as Cristiano Ronaldo scored the only winning goal of the game. The group-B match started at 6 pm in Bangladesh time at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia.

Portugal sealed their victory on the very opening minutes of the game. The Portuguese skipper grabbed his fourth goal of the tournament with a stunning header from a chip ball by Moutinho on the 4th minute of the game. With the goal the Portuguese side not only got the lead but also Ronaldo ranked his name on the top of the list to become the highest European goal scorer of all time.

The African side tried to reset their tactics several times in order to avoid the defeat and the Portuguese put their defensive line much compact than previous. Before the half time, Portugal got several chances from the loose ball through counter attack but in vain due to the lack of accuracy.

The scenario changed in the second half on the field as the men in red put forth their attacking line in numbers in order to get the breakthrough by hook or by crook. The Portuguese hardly got any chance to create counter attacks.

Morocco missed several clear chances to make the score line level but was denied by the Portuguese defense. Till the last minute of the game, the African side tried their best to comeback but had to end up their World Cup journey with the official’s whistle.
