Different political and socio-cultural organisations in Chittagong city today observed the 124th birth anniversary of the anti-British revolutionist Masterda Surya Sen, who was hanged to death on January 12, 1934.

Marking the day, Socialist Party of Bangladesh placed floral wreaths on the bust of Masterda in the JM Sen Hall premises in the port city.

At a brief rally, the party leaders said Masterda Surya sacrificed his life to free the country from the colonial oppressors.

Such sacrifices are still inspiring people to fight against injustice and repression, said Manash Nandi, a central executive member of the party. (Source: BSS BD)

Surya Sen was born on March 22, 1894 at Noapara village under Raozan Upazila of the district.
