48th victory day has been celebrated with pomp and grandeur today (Monday, 16 December) at Phultala Upazilla Premises organised by Phultala Upazilla Administration at 8 am.
The whole premises was nicely decorated with colourful flags, baloons etc. Different school and colleges of Phultala Upazilla participated in various eye-catching displays and parade competition.
Mr Narayan Chandra Chanda, the honourable MP, Khulna- 05, was the chief guest, Mr Sheikh Akram Hossain, the honourable chairman, Phultala Upazilla, was the special guest, Mrs Ruli Biswas, honourable Upazilla Executive Officer(acting), was the president of the function.
The function was solemnised with the recitation from the holy Quran and Gita. Then, the honourable Upazilla Chairman raised the national flag with national anthem sung by everybody.
Mrs Ruli Biswas, the honourable Upazilla Executive Oficer, delivered welcome speech, “After nine month long bloody battle against West Pakistan, we achieved our independence. We all have to work Unitedly to protect this independence and sovereignty. We must speak against injustice and corruption.”
“I am very happy to see all the faces of these school and college going children taking part in displays and parade. It’s clear that our future generation won’t let the blood shed by our martyr freedom fighters go in vain,” echoed Mr Narayan Chandra Chanda, the honourable MP.
Students of different schools and colleges took part in parade and displays to entertain the gusts and spectators present at the celebration.
“I’m really amazed to see the students’ performance. They are the future leader of our country. Only they can build up a golden Bangla which was dreampt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” said Mr Sheikh Akram Hossain, the honourable Upazilla Chairman, Phultala, Khulna. At the end of the function, nice prizes were distributed among the winner schools and colleges.
