A study by Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) has found that about 271 children died in 2018 After being abused physically and sexually. They also revealed that 1,006 children were raped and were subjected to attempted abduction and other abuse apart from those 271.
The foundation has brought out the findings of this study by analyzing reports of six daily newspapers of 2018. Those are Prothom Alo, Jugantor, Samakal, Ittefaq, The New Age, and The Daily Star. After this huge study, they revealed these findings in the Jatiya Press Club, this afternoon.
From their study, it is brought out that at least 129 children were abused by their teachers. Among them, around 70 children were physically abused, 33 were sexually abused, 17 were raped. There were seven incidents of attempted rape, one of kidnapping while another child died by suicide. Besides, 414 children died in road accidents and 133 were injured in 2018. But in 2017, this number was 376.
