Five Bangladeshis were killed and five more found injured in shooting and slaying in New Zealand mosques on Friday (the country’s time).

Yesterday (16 March), State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam said, “Ten Bangladeshis were affected [by the attacks]. Two of them died and three are missing.” UNB yesterday reported that the Bangladeshi authorities have confirmed that two Bangladeshis were killed in the terror attack. They are Dr. Abdus Samad and Husne Ara Forid. That time, 3 people named Omar Faruk, Dr. Mozammel and Zakaria were missing. But today, both of them are declared to be dead by the Honorary Consul of Bangladesh in Auckland Shafiqur Rahman has confirmation.

It has been reported that Husne Ara Parvin died trying to save her wheelchair-bound husband during the Christchurch terror attack. Her husband survived.

Again, 5 Bangladeshis were greatly injured. Selim Reza, Masum Billah, Lipi, and Rubel are among them. Among them, the condition of Lipi is very critical.

On Friday, during the time of Jumma prayer, a gunman Brenton Tarrant (three suspected) entered into two mosques and started shooting wherever he found Muslims. About 50 died and many injured.

Members of Bangladesh Cricket team including Tamim and Mushfiqur were supposed to have their prayer in Al Nur mosque in New Zealand. Fortunately, they managed to be safe and now, returned to Bangladesh.

Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina strongly condemned the shooting at two mosques in New Zealand and reiterated Bangladesh’s steadfast commitment against terrorism.
