Today (March 10) the body of the last missing person of the boat capsize in Buriganga is recovered by the fire service and the civil defense. So, the death toll reached 6 in total.

Today, the last missing person, Shahida is floated at 10 am on the Telghat area of Keranigang. The duty officer of Fire service and civil defense, Kamrul Islam had informed about it.

Before that, the bodies of Delwar (35), his wife Jamshida Begum (30), and their 6-month-old son Zunair, also with Shahida’s daughter, Meem (8), and son Mahi (6) were recovered on Friday and Saturday. Shahida was the aunt of Zunair and she was the only missing person till then before today.

The only person, still alive of the accident is Shahida’s husband Shahjalal (35). He was injured during the incident but managed to swim to the bank. He is now undergoing treatment at National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor), popularly known as Pangu Hospital.

All of these seven members of the family were missing when a boat capsized in the Buriganga river after being hit by a launch, named ‘MV Suravi-7’ at Thursday, 10 pm in the city’s Sadarghat area.

The family lives in Kamrangirchar area of the city and they were about to the launch terminal to go to their home in Shariatpur district.
