The first test match of Bangladesh tour of New Zealand 2019 was a miserable one for Bangladesh, but it was Soumya Sarkar and the captain Mahmudullah’s incredible patience tried to avoid an innings defeat.

Soumya Sarkar touched the record that Tamim Iqbal had been holding of the fastest test century since 2010 when he scored 100 of 94 balls against England at Lord’s. But now the record scoring century of 94 balls is being shared by Tamim and Soumya.

In his innings of 149 runs (172), Soumya smashed 21 boundaries and 5 over-boundaries having the strike rate of 87.13. Soumya’s run stopped at 149 to the delivery of Boult.

Mahmudullah hit a patient 146, his fourth Test century and his third in the last six innings. His career-best 146 and Soumya Sarkar’s 149 maiden century put on a 235-run for the fifth wicket but it was not enough to save them from an innings and 52 runs defeat against New Zealand.

Mahmudullah’s career best innings of 146 came with 21 boundaries and three over boundaries before he was the victim of Tim Southee.
