The five times champion Brazil sealed their position in the round of 16 with last minute goals against Costa Rica as they grabbed the victory by 2-0 goals. The match kicked off on Friday at 6 pm in Bangladesh times at Saint Petersburg Stadium in Russia.

The Barcelona attacking midfielder Phillip Coutinho broke the deadlock on the 90th minute of the game as the Sambas were struggling for a goal to clutch their ticket to the knockout stage. With a goal’s comfort Tite’s men turned back into their own style to play with the ball. Since the match official set the injury time to 6 minutes, the Neymar-squad didn’t let the chance to augment their lead and on the last minute of injury time Neymar scored the second goal for Brazil on 96th minute and eliminate Costa Rica from the tournament.

Earlier with the beginning of the game, the Latin side tried their best attacking tactics to penetrate the defensive wall of Costa Rica yet in vain in front of Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas since he saved innumerable shots on target.

With help of the newly added facility Video Assistant Referee (VAR), Brazil was denied a penalty that was initially given by the match referee. When the match official took the help of VAR it was clear that Brazilian sensation Neymar put on overact to grab a penalty on the 57th minute of the game.

The Costa Rican side had few clear chances to score goals but the lack of accuracy and ball controlling resist them to put the ball into the net. With back to back two defeats, Costa Rica had to put an end to their World Cup journey.
